Brigham Comes To Visit

We had the opportunity to have our nephew, Brigham, come for a visit. Dee had lots of things planned...and the weather did it's best to interfere...as in 116 degree days and 97 degree nights. Even with having to work on his vacation days...and even take a quick trip to Ontario, California to solve a problem, we had a great time.

First...family pizza and swimming night...
Good pic of Brigham...not so good pic of Kayty...

Ethan was having a great time the whole night with the bunny ears!

Ethan's molar pizza...Dr. Johnson would be so proud!

Even our chickens had some...

We all went swimming, and then Cameo made her wonderful No-bake Cookies

I think this was Amber's first time to taste Cam's cookies...and she thought they were great!

Rice Rule # 74: You must leave SOME cookies in the no-bake cookie prep pan so Dad Rice can scoop the remains.

During the week, Brigham and Dad were able to do many things
Brigham learned to play Cribbage...and he's pretty darned good at it!

Brigham swam...a lot...

Dad had gotten some rocket kits at a yard sale, so Brigham was able to build his own.

He sawed and polished rock

He milled holes in the rock

The finished rocket after painting and decor

First flight

Another rocket

Milling out a box from olive wood. He made the box the perfect size to hold the stone dice he made and polished.

He helped smoke a pork shoulder roast...12 hours...and two chickens.

Painting the dots on his dice

He even celebrated National Root Beer Float Day on August 6th with us! He makes a great float!

Thank you Rollin and Sharynn, for sharing your wonderful son with us. Thank you Trina and Aprilynne for helping get him to us and back home.

It's A.....

Cam and Ethan went for the 'big' ultrasound...and found out who Rice Cake really is. We decided it would be fun to Dress Your Guess...so we did. You can find out...just like we did...
Cam made this shirt for the party...

Two Grandpas with blue votes.

Though the shirt is blue...she said her guess was her hair. I am seeing someone who cannot commit to a decision...

Doran, Amber and Kelsie were definite in their guess...

So, on their big screen tv, they showed all the pics of the little one that had been done that morning...

One by one...Until....

This one...

My first photo of the audience response!

Some of the correct guessers

Most, if not all, of the correct guessers. Hey, guys...I really don't blame you for not wearing pink. I didn't see anything we could even lend to Brigham.

I think Nano cheated!

What is a party without refreshments! We had Cameo's homemade carrot cake, pink and blue cupcakes, and yummy cake, strawberry, rocky road and vanilla ice cream, and Doritos.

Liz cut...I scooped. Awesome!

And so, we are anxiously awaiting the appearance of

Kaylee Alyssa Rice

Elder Rice Mail August 6, 2012

Hey family,

So how are you family?  My new companion is .... 이동휘 Lee Dong Hwi. He
is super awesome and a super hard worker. We will see lots of success!
I have to email quick today because the place we're at has only one
computer. I hope you're doing well. I am and I will learn Korean better
this transfer.

If you send a care package again i need more
multivitamins. I don't trust Korean multi vitamins. I bought them at
Walmart before I left for my mission... It was the WalMart brand of One-A-
Day Mens.

I read 3rd nephi 11 (Book of Mormon)yesterday and when I did I felt the Spirit so much.
I love that. You should read it. So amazing.

Well sorry this one is so short thanks for your emails. I love you all so much. Tell Jessica I
loved her letter.

Have fun

Love your missionary Elder Rice
P.S. I am still in Iksan.
