Week of January 23 - 29, 2022

Spiritual
Sunday was very good. We got a new bishop and counselors on Sunday and they will most certainly be wonderful for our ward. My primary class was a bit wild, and all the preparations I made didn't work out so well. Oh, well, I'll keep trying.

We were able to get appointments to attend the temple this week. I attended on Tuesday morning and Dad attended on Thursday night. I was able to complete cousin Patty Sullivan's temple work for her.

My daily morning foundation of General Conference talk(s), prayer, scripture study and Come Follow Me study continues each day.

I have indexed 3028 records and reviewed 7009 records so far this year.

Family

The Wilkins Family
The Wilkins gas line was finally repaired this week and they now are literally cooking with gas! So glad the slow inspector decided to move a bit faster. Grace got good news this Thursday that those wisdom teeth should stay in for another year. What a relief! All is going as normal with workers busy working and students busy studenting.

The Ethan Rice Family
Ethan traveled to Pennsylvania this week and spent his week very very cold! Cameo worked from home and kept the kids going and happy. Wade is doing much better. On Friday, Kaylee was celebrating reading at her school by dressing up as a vocabulary word.

The Doran Rice Family
Doran has been very busy both working and then enjoying his new plasma cutter. Here is a recent creation.

All the family is well and busy with school, work and life.

Morgan
Morgan had a busy work week. Busy is good in his line of work.

Kayty
Kayty completed more overtime work and did a lot of cleaning out of her room.

The Nathan Rice Family
Another interesting week for the Nathan Rice family. Jessica finally got her tooth pulled after waiting weeks and weeks but it gave her some trouble so she had to really take it easy. Plus, on top of that, she was given the "gift" of a nasty fever to contend with. Isn't it great when kids bring home such fun stuff from school!! Nathan has been working twelve-hour days and holding down the fort when Jessica needs to rest. Anna and Ellie started piano lessons with Aunt Kayty this week and did well. Ellie ended up struggling with a fever on Tuesday and Friday. We saw the girls a bit on Saturday evening and had fun playing in the playroom.

Dad's Garden
Dads citrus remains plentiful and we picked a cabbage from the garden that provided Monday's dinner as well as meals all week. Oregano is going crazy and we need to start dehydrating. I was able to get some basil for one meal this week too, though basil is not a fan of cold weather. We also are enjoying the abundance of sugar snap peas.

Family History
More slides from Nano

Croquet was big when I was little. I only remember croquet or badminton in our backyard.

My dad, William Allan Kew, and me in a fancy pool.

Holding me is my Nano, my great grandmother Irma Zelia Wolf, and her daughter, Tutu's older sister, Frances.

A family picnic that included my dad's sister, my aunt Muriel Kew, and my dad, William Allan Kew.

Western Day was quite the event! When I attended school, it was the only day we could wear pants. We usually attended the Rodeo Parade.

Other highlights
We emptied part of the pool this week and refilled, hoping with some new water in there, some of the saltiness of the water would dissipate.

Good dental check-up for me...until I heard the news there is yet another tooth with infection at the root. Yes, another root canal in my near future.

Dad continues to try to get the jeep running in good shape, though that is a long process.

Week of January 16 - 22, 2022

Spiritual
Sunday was good and we had stake speakers in Sacrament Meeting and Megan was back to teach our primary class. The bishop came in to bring the kids their temple rings and a picture of the temple.

We were unable to get temple appointments this week but is has reopened.

My daily morning foundation of General Conference talk(s), prayer, scripture study and Come Follow Me study continues each day.

I have indexed 1867 records and reviewed 4325 records so far this year.

Family

The Wilkins Family
The Wilkins enjoyed a nice Sunday evening walk around the park...got some of that pent up Sunday energy out. Grace received her Patriarchal Blessing on Sunday. She had a wonderful experience.

Adam got a new car last week. There was a backing-up mishap and a gas line was broken and had to be repaired. Oh, the fun of being a new car owner. We are just so thankful nothing serious happened and all are well. Only challenge will be the repair bill.

Josh is doing well! Still a crazy climbing boy, just like he always has been. School has been a bit crazy with sick teachers out but they are surviving.

The plan for Sam's birthday was to use the Pogo Passes they got with Nano money and go bowling but things were a bit crazy and that had to be postponed till this coming week. He did love his birthday! He had a chocolate cake and he was able to decorate it!  And for gifts, he got a nerf gun, a coloring kit, a helicopter, a woodworking kit and  Orange Chicken and chocolate milk...though that happened to come up in the car on the way to school. Poor Sam, not a fun birthday!!! But that means the post-birthday will be spectacular! Sam is so excited to get baptized now that he is eight. No date yet.

This week, Allison has an interview at Sam's school to be a cafeteria cashier. She is getting her paperwork in for her gradschool next year, plus she is applying to be a CASA volunteer.

The Ethan Rice Family
This family's week started with SNOW!

We were blessed to have Ethan come and share dinner with us this week while he was here for a few days on a business trip.

Cameo was super woman holding down the fort, caring for and medicating Wade on the worst days of recovery, and taking Kaylee to school in some awfully cold temperatures.

The Doran Rice Family
Doran, Amber and the kids had a busy and good week.

Morgan
Morgan's work is slowing down but he is doing well.

Kayty
Kayty had lots of work and lots of overtime this week. Double time on Monday, late hours throughout the week and even a night she finished right before we went to bed. She finally left the house on Saturday and got her nails done.

The Nathan Rice Family
This week was good for Nathan, Jessica and family. They are getting into more of a rhythm now that Eve has joined their family. They visited us on Sunday.

Nathan was able to get some pavers from a trash pile that he intends to sell and got some windows to use the glass for a wood kiln he is creating. Annie had a fever on Wednesday but was back to normal on Thursday so she could dress up for the 100th Day of School.
Happy One Month to Miss Eve on Saturday. I got to hold her and truly she smiled at me!

Dad's Garden
Plants are doing well and we are enjoying spinach and the citrus is plentiful! Ethan picked a sack to take home with him on the plane.

Family History
More slides from my mom
This is the grave of my dad's mom, Etta Lucille Taylor Kew. It is located at Greenwood Cemetery in Phoenix. In the picture is my dad's sister, Muriel Lucille Kew...or Aunt Moo as I called her.

Various pictures of me as a toddler.

Other highlights
Lots of return to normal this week as the shelves in the living room were restocked with the pics of family I took down and packed up in September.

Dad spent the week filling in voids in our house trip preparing to paint. He also did it on the shed outside.

Morgan and Nathan came Saturday and fixed the fuel pump and gas tank on Dad's jeep.

Week of January 9 - 15, 2022

Highlights:

Spiritual
Sacrament Meeting was wonderful and a young couple that has been in our ward for months spoke...and they will move in a few weeks to a new home. Primary went well and many more kids in my class were there. Dad taught since the sister I teach with is stuck in New Jersey, sick with Covid.

Temple remains closed for renovations this week.

My daily morning foundation of General Conference talk(s), prayer, scripture study and Come Follow Me study continues each day.

I have indexed 1469 records and reviewed 3368 records so far this year.

Family

The Wilkins Family
Happy Birthday Sam on the 13th.

This family had a busy week. Their Sunday included church and a walk around the temple grounds.

There was disappointing news as school went remote again.

The Ethan Rice Family
Wade had his tonsils and adenoids removed on Thursday. He has been doing pretty well and the hardest thing seems to be keeping him calm. Ethan travels to Phoenix next week for work.

The Doran Rice Family
Happy Birthday, Kooper on the 13th!

Morgan
Morgan had a good week.

Kayty
Kayty had a good work week. 1 minor and 1 major save this week.

The Nathan Rice Family
Happy Birthday Nathan on the 14th! It was back to work this week for Nathan, though he works in the master bedroom. The girls are doing well and love their little sister. Nathan celebrated his birthday by sharing a Wagu beef steak that must have been very yummy.

Dad's Garden
Garden doing well and still fighting all the wildlife trying to eat it.

Family History
Sharynn kindly scanned and uploaded all Mom's slides to an internet site so I will be sharing some each week.
This is my mom and her grandfather, Earl Harrison Marsh. It must have been at his home in California.

Inez Marsh, Grampa Marsh and Barbara Marsh Kew (Mom/Nano)

This is me!

This is Lambie, a most favorite toy. I loved Lambie! Lambie did not survive our move of a few blocks when I was 8. My dad thought she was dirty and tossed her. Poor Lambie!

Other highlights
Village took two days but got all taken down and packed up.

Dad got his office cleaned up too. The week was spent on many fix up projects that needed attention.

Dropped off stuff at DI.
