Week of August 26 - September 1, 2018

Highlights:

Spiritual
It was wonderful having Nathan, Jessica, Anna and Ellie attend church with us on Sunday. We had a wonderful meeting, with the new ward mission leader as our main speaker. Our choir song came out very well. I must admit, though, I was enjoying granddaughters through the meeting. I ended up helping in the nursery and got to play with Anna there.

I had pack meeting this week, and Dad's young men combined with the Beehives to pick up trash on a neighborhood street.

I have indexed 13838 records and reviewed 36144 records so far this year.

I am in Alma 22 in the Book of Mormon.

Family

The Wilkins Family
This family had a good week. Happy 12th Birthday to Grace on Thursday! Now, she is officially part of the Young Women's Organization! She has been waiting so long!!

The Ethan Rice Family
Ethan had a rough start to the week, with someone rear ending his car. He has been seeing a doctor about it and will have an MRI next week. Wadey celebrated Tacky Tuesday at Preschool...

They left on Friday for a fun family camping trip.

The Doran Rice Family
Kelsie has had some challenges at school lately with a bully girl. It has been tough, but Kelsie is still hanging in there and doing well. Doran's abdominal pain still is there, but not as bad. He also was given another raise in pay this week. We celebrated Kelsie's birthday on Saturday evening.

Morgan
Morgan is doing well at work and enjoying new friends.

Kayty
Kayty worked all week. She was told Wednesday that they were keeping her on temporary status for three more months, since she really should have been let go already since work is scarce. (Boss is not a good communicator). She was very discouraged, since she gets no insurance benefits and is accruing no sick or vacation pay, plus no holiday pay. She talked with Ethan and he explained that they might be just waiting for an opportunity for the budget to open up. We sure hope so. This makes three years no insurance, no endocrinologist appts.

1 save this week.

The Nathan Rice Family
Happy First Birthday, Ellie on Monday! Jessica helped her mom do some more remodel shopping, Nathan took a trip to Cabelas with the girls to see the animals, they went out to Surprise again to see some of the homes Jessica had looked at, and they visited Grandpa Bob to get restocked in M&Ms. We swam on Monday evening after dinner. Tuesday morning, Mom and Dad went to serve in the temple, and I got to play with the girls. "Tangled" has become the movie of choice, and we indeed saw it 4 full times that day.

Anna helped cook her own scrambled eggs fresh from our hens.
Nathan and Jessica were able while in the temple to gain some inspiration as to future steps their family needs to take. They spent Wednesday visiting Nano on her birthday, and having some fun. Evenings were spent at Jessica's parents eating yummy dinners and getting haircuts. We all headed to the Childrens Museum of Phoenix on Thursday and had a great time!

This is the paint build up from months and months of Children painting it.

Nathan had a job interview Friday morning while we watched "Tangled" another four times, and then then cleaned up and packed up. Lots of tears (Grammy admits it) but so much fun. So glad they could stay with us!!! They stopped on the way and visited with the Wilkins cousins. They stopped in Salt Lake City to give the girls a little reprieve and saw Temple Square
Anna thought that Jesus needed his feet tickled. I am sure heaven was smiling.

They stopped at their garden, picked a huge zucchini, and arrived home later on Saturday.

Dad's Garden
New seedlings have sprouted and are growing for planting in a few weeks. New seeds went in on Saturday as well for lettuce, cabbage, collards, etc.

Other highlights
Cooler mornings. While it might be temporary, it was wonderful to jog in the upper 70s!

Wonderful to have so many family celebrations this week.

Not so highlights
It was just sad on Saturday...September 1st...Opening Day of Dove Season. There is really no where close to even try to hunt, and it becomes not so worth it to drive tons to get a few dove. Progress, I guess. I enjoyed remembering boys and dad up very early, all decked out in camouflage, heading out for the hunt, and then racing back to get to school on time.
