Week of October 28-November 3, 2018

Highlights:

Spiritual
We had good meetings on Sunday. A new sister in our ward gave a wonderful talk on the Sabbath Day. The choir sang and we did a good job. Our director selects songs with such a beautiful spirit to them. Sunday School was great also. Relief Society included a discussion on personal scripture study. I attended choir practice in the afternoon.

I attended a Tuesday morning session at the temple. While the Gilbert temple resumed sessions, our temple still was very busy. Dad attended a session on Thursday night.

I completed reading the Book of Mormon, and started again, to try to complete it before the end of the year as President Nelson challenged the women in General Conference. I was in 3rd Nephi at Conference time, so I will read to that point again. I am now in 1 Nephi 15.

I have indexed 17682 records and reviewed 58436 records so far this year.

Family

The Wilkins Family
Sunday was the primary program for Allison (the music leader), Josh and Sam, and then did well. Plus Grace participated with a solo.

They spent Sunday evening carving pumpkins and having a special dinner.

Harry Potter was the main family theme for this year.
Halloween 2018: Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall, Harry Potter, Dobby, Hermione, and a Muggle.

Halloween included a party for Adam, and trick or treating in a new area for the rest of the family.

The Ethan Rice Family
There were many Halloween activities the past week. Cameo wrote: "It has been very eventful here lately. On Wednesday evening, we went Trunk or Treating at Wade’s Preschool. On Friday, we went Trick or Treating at the Square AND to Kaylee’s Fall Festival at her school. On Saturday, we went to Shaquille O’Neil’s 2nd Annual Trick or Treating event.

On Sunday night, Wadey did an amazing jump from Mom and Dad's bed, and began limping and favoring his foot, so off he and Ethan went to the Emergency room.

X-rays and hours later, he was pronounced free from broken bones. He slept in till noon, while Dad got an hour or two of sleep before off to work.

Kaylee participated in a Story Character Costume Parade at school on Halloween

And this was their family adventure that night

The Doran Rice Family
We were able to go visit on Halloween and do some trick or treating with Doran, Amber and the kids, though this might be one of the last years they tolerated trick or treating with their grandma! The theme this year was Role Reversal. Doran and Amber were the Goth Teen Kids, Kelsie was their overworked Grandma, and Kooper was the Police Officer ready to haul those naughty kids in.

Morgan
Morgan had a good week and is enjoying work and life in general. He, Aimee and Emileigh enjoyed Halloween at a local trunk or treat.

Kayty
Kayty had a good week at work. She dressed up on Halloween for work as Anastasia.

Lily liked looking at her bat wings all month, but was not a fan of wearing them.

One major save this week.

The Nathan Rice Family
Nathan flew in on Sunday evening. WL Gore Company flew him in, rented him a car, and put him up at the Little America. He stopped by for some pizza on his way North.

He had two interviews on Monday, was driven around by a realtor to see some very overpriced properties, and then raced back to Phoenix, ate at New Asian Kitchen, and almost missed his flight at the airport. He got home safely, and Jessica and the girls were so happy to see him. He spent the rest of the week catching up on school work, and the family had a great Halloween, though it was cold and snow had fallen, so trick or treating included warm coats.

Job offers are coming. He turned down one in Blackfoot Idaho.

Ellie, on Saturday, decided on her own that a high chair was for babies.
Nathan took the girls out on Saturday night for a Daddy Daughters Date. The girls had a good time, and brought home milkshakes to share with Jessica.

Dad's Garden
Rabbits are the garden nemesis. They have eaten and eaten, and every time Dad thinks he has them all trapped and relocated, more plants disappear.

Tomatoes are on tomato vines, carrots and turnips and beets are growing, and snow peas seem to be getting taller. Everything is very covered with fencing, bird netting, and anything else Dad can find.

Other highlights
Great jogs this week in beautiful cool weather. On Saturday, the temple spire lights came on as I was running toward that direction. While the gates were still locked, it was an amazing sight. Never get tired of the temple.

Halloween decorations came down on Thursday and Thanksgiving went up in the rest of the house that day. The village mess in the living room aka Christmas Room began: lights in windows, backdrop lit and up with snowflakes added this year, hut and closets emptied and organized, and new styrofoam for Elfland.

Nano is enjoying her new home. I took her to get her hair permed and while she was there, did some clean up of house and bills.
