Week of October 20 - October 26, 2024

Spiritual
It was a relatively normal Sunday, though our meeting time and location were changed due to visitors from Salt Lake city that spoke to the other wards in our stake and then had a luncheon for all the young women in the stake.

We were unable to attend the temple this week.

My daily morning foundation of General Conference talk(s), prayer, scripture study and Come Follow Me study continues each day.

I have indexed 55,037 records and reviewed 20,137 records so far this year.

Family

The Wilkins Family
Allison has an interesting project for school where she has to record herself teaching and then there are evaluations and critiques. She also has to be in a weekly zoom meeting with other 4th grade teachers to improve each others skills. She will need to student teach through Dec 23rd and then she will be done with her Master's Degree. Work is also difficult with a very micromanaging boss. Grace is enjoying her job, plus she volunteers at Allison's school and she takes a weekly institute class as well as missionary prep. Grace had some rough dental work this past week. She and Allison are like dad and need multiple novocaine shots to remain pain free. She is recovering but still in pain. She is working this week at a Halloween Festival at work. Josh is participating in a 22 mile walk to the temple to commemorate the pioneers who sacrificed so much to build the Salt Lake Temple. Since its Nevada Day on Friday, the kids are out of school and Mike took off work so he can participate as well. Grace and Allison will also do some temple work on Friday.

The went out to Muapa in Logandale on Friday to an awesome haunted corn maze. They had a great time. They also participated in the school Trunk or Treat.

The Ethan Rice Family
Ethan, Cameo, Kaylee and Wade are doing well and looking forward to all the fun of Halloween. Kaylee has created her own costume and is progressing well.
The Doran Rice Family
Doran, Amber, Kelsie and Kooper are doing well.

Morgan
Pumpkin Carving fun in Flagstaff

Kayty
Kayty worked from home this week. She is feeling better and will return to work on site next week.

The Nathan Rice Family
Dad flew out to Arkansas and enjoyed a few days with Nathan, Jessica and the girls. Their new home and property is beautiful and they are doing well.

Dad's Garden
Lots of hard work in the heat this week by Kayty and I have kept all the remaining hens and the garden surviving.

Other highlights
Dad had good work days on Monday and Tuesday and then set out for his final Papa Adventure for the year on Wednesday to Camden, Arkansas.

Lots and lots of paperwork pertaining to Mom went on this week. The death certificates finally arrived late Friday and Scott picked them up Saturday morning and got them to me so I could get things in the mail.

Week of October 13 - October 19, 2024

Kayty had dental work which led to a large infection and sent us to the emergency room with her nearly in a coma. She was diagnosed with DKA as well as a serious infection. After a couple of days in the CCU, bags and bags of fluids, insulin and antibiotics, she was able to return home late Tuesday. She is a very blessed young lady.

On Saturday, we buried Mom. The funeral service was lovely and far away family could participate via zoom.

Family

The Wilkins Family
It was so good to hear from the Wilkins family via Marco Polo. They visited as they finished playing a game of Monopoly. Allison is busy at work and competing her masters degree. Classes still are being taken and papers are being written. Mike is doing well at work and decided to return to college to complete another Bachelors Degree in Warehousing and Logistics. Adam is doing well at work and visits his sweetheart when he gets off. Grace is doing well in school and finally completed all the preliminaries so now she works at a Day Care. Josh is liking seminary and doing well in school. And Sam had more money than anyone and likes school!

The Ethan Rice Family
Ethan and Cameo are busy decorating their house for Halloween. Kaylee had her first band concert this week. The trumpet section sounded awesome!!! It was a real memory to hear "Hot Cross Buns"!

Spoke with Kaylee, Ethan and Cameo via FaceTime on Saturday evening. Wade had a really good showing at his lacrosse game earlier that day and was at a teammates house spending the night. Kaylee was working on her Halloween costume and then gave me a tour of their skeleton collection inside their home. All are doing very well.

The Doran Rice Family
Happy Anniversary Doran and Amber on Friday. They celebrated with a trip to Nashville.

Morgan
No news from Morgan and Cassie this week.

Kayty
Kayty had a good week at work.

The Nathan Rice Family
Spoke with Nathan and Jessica as she was making some sour dough bread. Nathan said her first loaves were a bit hard but the second loaf came out excellent! They had a fun Saturday. The drove two hours and listened to General Conference, then toured a farm tool exhibit where they saw a cotton gin and the worlds largest bale of cotton west of the Mississippi River. Then they drove the two hours home and listened to the next session of General Conference. All are doing well.

The girls called via FaceTime on Friday and shared their new family members: two puppies. Their names are Whitney/  and Cookie. The girls take turns walking them and they are totally smitten. Eve struggled earlier in the week with croup but is much much better.

Dad's Garden
Harvesting romaine already. Still struggling with small creatures eating our seedlings. We still are keeping our chickens alive in this never ending heat.
