Week of September 3 - 9, 2017

Highlights:

Spiritual
We had a good Sunday. Fast and Testimony meeting was good. I am now the unofficial chorister until possibly next week. I spent the next two hours sitting with the primary class filled with my cub scouts while they practiced the primary program.

I got letters written to Jessie, and to one of my visiting teaching sisters and got it mailed this week.

I attended a Tuesday morning session at the Phoenix Temple. Dad attended a session on Thursday evening.

For cub scouts, we had a hike. I hold off the hike as long as I can each year, hoping for cool weather. Our days grow shorter and it's hard to get a mile hike completed between 6 and 7 pm. Dee helped me so much! He showed the boys a map and compass view of the area, led the hike, and helped me get 6 active boys across a busy street. They completed all they needed and we got back to church with 5 minutes to spare.

I have indexed 27569 records so far this year.

I am in Alma 40 in the Book of Mormon.

Family

The Wilkins Family
Dad was invited by Grace late Friday afternoon to attend their Primary Program, so he took off for Vegas Saturday morning. He was able to let me FaceTime with Grace during one call, and with Sam during another. It was so fun for me!! Here are some pics of their Saturday.

Papa took the kids to Deseret Industries.

Adam played a concert for Papa

Josh playing a new Harry Potter video game

 Eating dinner

 Shopping with Papa
 Playing a game of monopoly

Sam reading with Mommy. His favorite book is Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
Grace and I talked and she caught me up on all the family. Adam is liking school but finds it hard to get across a large campus to get to his classes. He attended his first Saturday Night Dance when Papa was there. Grace made a new friend at school and they have so much in common. She also has a science teacher that shares a lot of her interests. She showed me her school schedule. Josh is starting to read Harry Potter. He wanted to play t-ball at school but not enough kids have signed up yet. Sam likes having some time alone with Mommy when the kids are at school. His favorite food is toast. He has his own big boy bed and likes it a lot. He likes to sing "I am a Child of God" and "Once There Was A Snowman".

The Ethan Rice Family
This family enjoyed their final week of Grandma Liza's visit. Hurricane Irma threatened but turned another direction so they were safe and snug. Wade is walking like crazy...not toddling but walking! Kaylee and I had a great FaceTime visit on Monday as she showed me her very clean room and her fish.

They spent the weekend preparing for Hurricane Irma's approach. It is expected that they will experience some rain and high winds as it passes over them. They are in our prayers.
The Doran Rice Family
Kooper (and Mom and Dad) started Sunday in a pretty scary way. One of their foster dogs bit him in the face. Their neighbor came right away to help...Others came from Ambers group and took the dog, and the neighbor helped get them to Urgent Care and even paid the co pay.

They spent their Saturday with friends at the Children's Museum.

Kooper got his Halloween costume...and really loved it! Loved it so much that he wouldn't take it off!

Morgan
Morgan is reunited with the rest of his stuff at our house and Doran's house and is back with Christy. He came by Friday night to use the trailer and engine hoist to help Kyle rebuild an engine.

Kayty
Kayty worked all week. She is struggling to get her insulin, since she found out a one month supply with no insurance is almost $600. We were feeling really low until she was inspired to check out Craigslist. She even found a box of insulin in Las Vegas. How blessed that Grace invited Papa to come there. He is to meet with the seller on Monday afternoon before he heads home.

Total saves this week: 1

The Nathan Rice Family
While Jessica rested on Sunday morning, I got to chat and watch Nate and his two little girls. Annalee is getting more used to her new sister, and Elisabeth seems to be getting along well. She loves to eat. She is not a fan of cold diaper wipes and diaper changes. She likes to snuggle and she sleeps through most anything, even Anne running the air mattress air compressor. Didn't bother little Miss Ellie a bit.

Nathan completed his time at his job, though he will return on call to program machines. He really enjoyed working there. He got his books and will start school Monday.

Dad's Garden
Dad continued harvesting dates and planted snow peas on Friday.

Year of the House Part 2
We did talk with Mark Kuhlwein about getting the stone we need.

Other highlights
Dad picked tons of prickly pears with Geary Roberts, and then he processed the juice.
I completed Elisabeth's Grammy stocking this week.

Nano shopping went well this week and we were able to get her food plus supplies for her Senior Sister  Luncheon next Thursday.

Grandma and I took our annual trip out to Milly's Hallmark for their half price sale. I got what I wanted and more, and she purchased my Christmas present.

I packed up all the "stuff" on the shelves in the living room: wrapped in tissue and bubble wrap and but in unused suitcases and boxes in the playroom and will pull out Fall decorations on Monday or Tuesday.

Not so highlights
Warm humid morning jogs are getting tiring. So tired of coming home a very hot mess.
