Week of July 29 - August 4, 2018

Highlights:

Spiritual
Sunday was good. We had the sister missionaries, a member of the Arizona Phoenix Mission Presidency, and our bishop speak, and then later we learned about our Ward Mission Plan. Choir sang in church, and then we had practice later that afternoon.

I went the temple Tuesday morning to perform initiatory ordinances. Dad attended the Bountiful Utah temple on Wednesday morning, the Provo City Center temple on Wednesday afternoon, and the Cedar City Utah temple on Thursday morning.

Cub Scout swimming pack meeting was on Tuesday. Our den accomplished one requirement. We also had Den meeting this week. We worked on Adventures in Coins. Dad and I attended the baptismal service for one of our new cubs and his older sister.

I am in Words of Mormon in the Book of Mormon. I continue to read the Ensign Magazine and listen to a General Conference talk each day.

I have indexed 12849 records and reviewed 23799 records so far this year.

Family

The Wilkins Family
Dad had a business trip to Utah, and so he was able to stop and visit both on the way there and on the way home. He had a great time with the kids, playing games, reading to Sam, and enjoying the evening.

On Wednesday, the family used their Pogo Passes to go to Cowabunga Bay.
Sam had a great time...he was just very tired and hungry in this pic.

Dad stopped by on the way home and spent Thursday night there. He was able to go see Grace and Josh's new school at a meet the teacher night. Both kids are looking forward to the new year!

And then some ice cream afterwards

It was such a great week to be able to FaceTime as well as Marco Polo with the kids. Sam worked on T week and the rest just prepared for school. Adam starts a week after Grace and Josh.

The Ethan Rice Family
Kaylee had her first day of Kindergarten...

Kaylee's first week was referred to as Kindergarten Kamp
And at the end of the week, this...

She was so very happy to have her friend Joshua in her class this year!!

I thought this was just precious! All the rest of the kids at the school lining the hallways to cheer on the new Kindergarteners!

Wadey had a great time with his best buddy...Ruger.

I spoke via FaceTime on Friday. Kaylee had a good school week and Wadey is adjusting well. He keeps Mommy busy all day!

The Doran Rice Family
This family had a good week. Aunt Tamara stopped by during the week to take the kids out for a special lunch.
Kelsie started school on Thursday.

A big dust storm hit on Thursday evening and got their power for awhile. Glad all were safe.

Morgan
Morgan is doing well.

Kayty
Kayty had a good week at work, and we enjoyed crime drama reruns during the evenings.

1 minor save this week.

The Nathan Rice Family
This family had a good week. Nathan continues to work on a machining project for the school. Beautiful days were had so they went to the splash pad and picked veggies from their garden. Nano and I got to FaceTime with the girls and Nathan on Thursday. He has been working with a friend on uses for the lead he sifts with their project invention...the lead sifter. They have some great ideas they are working on.

Dad's Garden
Key limes are still coming. Grapes are not ripe, but the birds are eating them up.

Christmas in July...July ended and I did finish all my ornaments as well as watch a few movies...even "Elf".

Other pics from Dad's travels

While Dad traveled...
I got all of Kayty's costume dresses IN the playroom closet and did a rudimentary repair of the closet curtain rod.
Washed all the kitchen table chairs...legs, seats, backs
Moved the kitchen table, scrubbed the floor under the table and then replaced the table.
Cleaned the stone in the master bathroom, guest bathroom, kitchen counters and walls, and china cabinet counter and then sealed.
Hauled the bags of chicken manure from the front yard to the compost bins.
Post storm pool care which included skimming and brushing the pool, trying to dive to pick up leaves (discovered goggles are necessary for this action) and resorted to picking up many many leaves from the bottom of the pool with my toes, emptying the pool filter leaf basket three times - scraping out a ton of debris each time, and keeping the pool as clear as I could.
Fed, watered, replaced water, and kept chickens as happy as chickens can be.
Cleaned up dried up key limes.
Took kitchen trash cans outdoors, scrubbed them, and let them dry in the blazing sun to disinfect.
Sealed the master bathroom shower and floor.
Raked up pine needles and branches after Monday's storm, bagged them, and put them in the bulk trash pile.
Removed dead pepper bushes near chicken pen.
Brushed and skimmed the pool after another dust storm.
Picked new key limes and trimmed interior new branches and hauled to the bulk trash pile.
Scrubbed the kitchen floor.

Other highlights
Monday evening included a really huge dust storm with winds as high as 74 mph recorded near us. After the dust came rain! Everything seemed good with the roof and I gave a prayer of thanks for the rain for the pine tree. Thursday evening also included a dust storm, but not nearly as bad for us. Light rain came later.

I heard this quote by Joseph Campbell the other day...
"We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us."
