Week of October 20 - 26, 2019

Highlights:

Spiritual
We had a good Sunday. We were blessed to partake of the Sacrament again this week and learned from the talks given there. Sunday afternoon I enjoyed choir practice.

I attended a session at the temple Tuesday morning. Dad attended a session on Thursday evening.

Dad had a Stake Sunday School presidency meeting on Sunday. I had a Relief Society extra meeting board meeting on Tuesday night. I am not so sure about my new calling yet. Long meeting and still much left undiscussed. I am not going to be able to attend the activity too, so that is proving difficult. I did complete my assignments plus came up with an idea for a cute topper for the dessert.

I continue reading the Book of Mormon, listening to and reading General Conference talks daily.

I have indexed 19, 513 records and reviewed 52,006 records so far this year.

Family

The Wilkins Family
The Wilkins family started their week with the traditional painting of mini pumpkins. There were some pretty nice ones being created. I saw rainbow ones, one called a ladybug pumpkin, one that began black and many other beautiful creations. I love this tradition of theirs. It was a week full of dental appointments and filling prescriptions, preparing for insurance to end. Mike is not able to receive unemployment benefits due to a Nevada statute. Both Mike and Allison are searching many for new employment. In such an awful time, they did find a bright side. Mike was not permitted to have any facial hair for 12 years, but now he can.
They attended their ward Trunk or Treat dressed up as Hawkeye Pierce (MASH), Rosie the Riveter, and Thing 1 and Thing 2.

The Ethan Rice Family
Mike and Marina were near and stopped by for a visit.

Ethan began the week sick with the stomach bug. They ended up all finally feeling better and enjoying Fall Festivities with the local police department offering a great event.

The Doran Rice Family
Doran, Amber, and family had sickness in their house this week that kept Amber home since Doran's employer thinks caring for sick kids is "women's work". They are anxious to get into their home so he can move on to another job.
Some pics from Kelsie and Doran's trip to 13th Floor last week.

Morgan
Morgan spent Monday in the hospital and eventually was diagnosed with kidney stones. He also has scoliosis and a mass in a lung that he needs to have monitored. He was pretty sick when he called Monday.

Kayty
Kayty had a good week at work and used her half day time off gift to come home and help me prepare Halloween treats.

The Nathan Rice Family
A busy and good week was had by this family. Nathan and Jessica worked hard to get the girls' Halloween costumes completed. Their ward Trunk or Treat was Friday evening. They took some delicious chili and brownies and had such a good time. They came by after to show their costumes: Anna was True, complete with felt backpack and blue hair, and Ellie was a Yetti. Emma wore the traditional Snow White costume.

Dad's Garden
Dad lost more plants early in the week, so Tuesday, he applied more bird netting and planted more spinach seeds. The creatures are, as usual, driving him nuts!

Other highlights
Dad got some tile put down on the front porch to replace the broken ones. He also worked on fixing the trailer tire, which led to the rim repair, and now the hub needs new bolts, which are only in South Phoenix. He also worked on fixing broken sprinklers and cleaning up all the cement tools.

My annual physical and bloodwork came out well!!! Hooray. I celebrated by Dad bringing me a half a Subway Sub on Friday.

I took Mom to pick up prescriptions and get some money from the bank on Thursday.

I wanted to have some sort of Halloween Party last year, and I spent way too much time on Pinterest and then created all the fun things I found for treats. We painted a little decoration, decorated sugar cookies, ate pizza and had fun.

They seemed to have a good time and it did tire them out.

Dad did the music for our ward Trunk or Treat. It had been two years since he used the equipment, so he had much preparation to do. Kayty got him some newer music off CD and he ended up doing a great job.
