Week of August 14 - August 20, 2022

Spiritual
We had a wonderful Sacrament Meeting. We heard from a young man that was one of my cub scouts and then his father spoke. We also heard a sweet sister missionary report on her mission to Cambodia before she heads to BYU next week. My class went pretty well and Sunday was quiet and cloudy.

We were able to get appointments to attend the temple this week.

My daily morning foundation of General Conference talk(s), prayer, scripture study and Come Follow Me study continues each day.

I have indexed records 34,207 and reviewed 67,186 records so far this year.

Family

The Wilkins Family
What a few weeks it has been for the Wilkins family! Mike is doing well but still seeking a better job. Amazon is a brutal place to work. Allison is busy with her second graders. She deals with multiple physical, emotional and personal issues both with kids and with parents. Days are long as there is much work done behind the scenes. But she is enjoying it. Adam continues his long and hot days working at Valvoline. Grace started school and is adjusting to a block schedule. She enjoys seminary, tennis and choir very much. Josh did not get any electives he selected so they are trying for at least one schedule change and getting him into PE. Grace shared the awesome time she had a both girls camp and in school. And she is now published! A story she wrote years ago was published in the September 2022 Childrens Friend Magazine.

Singing Time Together

Singing

“It’s singing time!” Sister Yang said. “Let’s start with ‘Book of Mormon Stories.’”

Sarah sat up tall. She was ready to sing! This was one of her favorite songs.

Then she saw a girl sitting alone. Sarah had never seen her in Primary.

Singing

The first notes played on the piano. Sarah started to sing. “Book of Mormon stories that my teacher tells to me.”

She looked down the row again. The girl wasn’t singing. Maybe she didn’t know the words.

Sarah wanted to share her favorite song with the girl. Sarah moved over to sit by her. The girl looked up and smiled.

Sarah whispered the next words. They sang together. Soon the girl could sing all the words!

Singing

Now singing time was over. “What’s your name?” Sarah asked.

“I’m Alexa.” The girl smiled. “Thank you for helping me! It’s my first time in Primary.”

Sarah smiled back. “I’m glad you’re here!” She was sure Alexa would learn a lot of good things—and a lot of great songs!

The Ethan Rice Family

Ethan, Cameo and family are doing well. Wade started playing Lacrosse this week.

The Doran Rice Family
Doran and family are now the proud owners of an aluminum fishing boat and are looking forward to many fun fishing adventures ahead. Doran helped Nathan on Saturday with a tree removal project.

Morgan
No news from Morgan this week.

Kayty
Kayty had a very good work week and is doing better in Auto Policy monitoring.

The Nathan Rice Family
Nathan and Jessica and the girls are doing well. Home school is awesome and they are really enjoying it. Annie hurt her ankle on the trampoline this week and ended up with a bad sprain. Nathan spent Saturday sweating and sawing a whole tree down with Doran. They did get a chance to have dinner out while the girls stayed with us.

Dad's Garden
We trimmed trees and got a lot cleaned up this quarterly pick up. Weather has prevented him from working on the raised beds.

Family History - Nano Slides
My Nano: Irma Zelia Pratt Wolf Leiber, me, Scott and my dad

I am assuming this is Christopher Creek Lodge in Payson Arizona

My great grandmother, Irma Zelia Pratt Wolf Leiber

Four Generations: Louise Amelia Wolf Marsh Hart, Mom, Irma Zelia Pratt Wolf Leiber, and me

In my aforementioned Uncle Carl's wedding, I was the rice passer outer. These were little net bags of rice that I handed out after the wedding.

Other highlights
I got a great moisturizing foot treatment early Monday morning. That came after I dropped a nearly full container of coconut oil on the kitchen floor and had to slip and slide and clean it all up. Not fun!

We celebrated Nano's 87th birthday on Tuesday night at Manuels Mexican food. We enjoyed having Elizabeth join Scott, Jenny, and Dad. Mom looked great and had a wonderful time.
