Week of October 11 - 17, 2020

Highlights:

Spiritual
Oh, how wonderful it was to attend Sacrament Meeting today for the first time in seven months with all of our ward invited to attend. Not all did, but it was great so see so many people. Things seemed a bit awkward but I am sure it will get smoother. The best part was to be able to sing hymns. It filled my soul to be able to sing with others, to have Sydney, a deaf young woman in our ward, serve as chorister once again and lead the music. A new Elder's Quorum president was called and we listened to wonderful talks from a missionary starting this mission at home in a week or so. He will serve in the Houston Texas Spanish Speaking mission.

Temples remain closed for the work for the dead.

I continue reading General Conference talks, listening to those same talks daily, reading my Book of Mormon through Come Follow Me daily.

I have indexed 16323 records and reviewed 98245 records so far this year.

Family

The Wilkins Family
Allison shared their Halloween Sunday Special for the week: Mummy braids (pizza dough with chicken pot pie filling) and Goblin Brains (roast Brussels sprouts). It looked amazing! Sunday was a rough day. Mike and Adam went to church in one car to prepare the Sacrament. Allison and the rest finished getting ready. They had to search for the keys, and when they found them, the car was completely dead. No one had phones, so Allison and the kids did their Sacrament Meeting at home and shared testimonies. Grace played the piano and they had a good meeting. Later, they watched The Chosen on BYUtv.
Their week went well. School is one quarter finished, so the week was full of completing assignments. Everyone did pretty well in school and the grades for everyone were great. They have made some adjustments for online learning so the next quarter should be even better. AND Sam gets to return to in person school this week.

There is split time: 2 days in the classroom and 2 days remote. Sam is very excited about getting to start soccer soon. He has been waiting for his coach to call.

Joshua is doing well and expects to get his braces for his knees this week. He also starts his soccer practices. He was very excited to be able to get some Jack In the Box tacos, nearly his favorite since Taco Bell let him down. Grace has enjoyed remote spirit days at school This week is college week and she will dress in pajamas, a school shirt (Mom's NAU shirt), and college hats. Adam continues to do well at school and is busy working on a project with Nathan involving distance candy delivery. Mike continues working and picking up extra hours and job hunting. Allison is working very hard. With an increase in temple capacity, there is a lot more work to do. She gets her dental crown completed this week. They have a ward socially distanced barbeque coming up this week.

The Ethan Rice Family
Cameo shared:
We explored the North Georgia Mountains over the weekend. It was our first time going to Burt’s Pumpkin Farm and Amicalola Falls. It was a wonderful experience! I l😍ve this time of year! 🍂

The Doran Rice Family
Happy Anniversary to Doran and Amber on Sunday. They enjoyed their trip.
Amber shared on Sunday...
I have never seen a more patriotic state in my life. Its 91 here a little humid, lush and green. Trump flags everywhere. Texas is beautiful.
I could live here. We are about 120 miles east of Houston on the way to Galveston
Water and rivers everywhere

She and Doran celebrated their anniversary with dinner out.

On Monday, they headed to Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier

They fished in the Ocean, went to an Aquarium and an Amusement Park and had a great time!!

Morgan
No news from Morgan this week.

Kayty
Kayty had a good work week with a few overtime hours.

The Nathan Rice Family
Nathan came to our rescue on Monday night as we had not been able to correctly install Kayty's new
ceiling fan. They had a good and busy week, with soccer practice and a Saturday game. Jessica and the girls created their witch Halloween costumes with the expert help of Jessica's mom, Grammy Lorrie.

Dad's Garden
Dad's garden continues to do well and he has had some success relocating the rabbits who had been eating the new vegetables.

Other highlights
Tuesday was some bloodwork for me to get my prescription extended till next year. The trauma of that required a trip to Hobby Lobby to recover.

On Wednesday, 2020 hit another awful mark of 144 days 100 degrees and over in Phoenix...a new record. (It was 98 at our house).

Instead of Dad and I trick or treating, I am trying the second annual Jack o lantern Jubilee on Saturday.
Pizza...my first attempt at a charcuterie board...and great fun.
