Week of January 1 - 3, 2016

Happy New Year 2016!

Highlights

Our new years was pretty calm. Kayty watched Dick Clark's New Years Rockin' Eve and screamed at the TV every time One Direction sang. We went to bed late for me...and I did hear fireworks going off at midnight. I soundly slept the rest of the night and woke up early and took a first of the year jog. Lights were still up at some homes and it was beautiful!

New Years Day included Ethan and Nathan coming over and helping on an ABUNDANCE of things, and Kaylee playing with me so Mommy could work on her birthday cake for Saturday. Ethan and Nathan dug the growing rye grass into the garden, hauled compost, added other nutrients to Dad's specifications, and turned it over and over.

Ethan then installed the wires for our television and attached the antenna. Nate crawled into the attic to get wires up through the wall.

It looks awesome!

And sooo much better than those two push pins holding up the old antenna with the wire wrapped around another pin and then dangling from a sconce on the wall "just so".

They also hauled off the remaining concrete strip behind the hut that had to be removed so Dad could break it up.Kaylee and I swang and played in the sand and climbed and slid and kicked the beach ball and went all over the yard exploring.

Just a few brief highlights left of this split up week

Spiritual
We enjoyed attending earlier Sacrament meeting at 9:00 am and I think most of the parents did as well. We are going to study the Book of Mormon this year in Sunday School and it was awesome to hear the many testimonies of the truthfulness of this book and its providing another testament of Jesus Christ. I love reading the Book of Mormon and I always learn more of the Savior every time I read it.

Family

The Wilkins Family
Looks like the Wilkins had a wonderful New Year's Celebration. I know that Allison and Mike make sure the evening is full of fun things to do. Plus, Mike's parents and sister Kelli and family were visiting them and Kristi's family as well.

 The Ethan Rice Family
Kaylee's third birthday was celebrated on Saturday evening. We also sang to Cameo. She had made a beautiful cake for Kaylee and individual cherry cheesecakes for her celebration. Kaylee is three...and Cameo, and Daddy, are 33. Kind of neat.

Kaylee had an exhausting day and was asleep before we left. It was a great celebration!

The Doran Rice Family
Amber's cousin, Erica, and her sweet family came over this week. Cousins are the best!

Morgan
Other than seeing Morgan on the freeway, we haven't heard. I do know that the bowl of pistachios he left at Grandma's that 's on my table is going to start becoming emptier and emptier as the days go by...

Kayty
Kayty worked and spent Saturday night with friends.Still working on that One Direction Tree

 The Nathan Rice Family
Nathan and Jess are gearing up to head up to school. Nathan has everything packed and tried to cram as much as he could in on Saturday night. I am so grateful for their opportunity to go to college. Though far away, it is so affordable!

Gonna miss them, though!

I got to spend Saturday snuggling on her some more. Gotta soak up months of snuggles until I brave the cold and fly for a visit.

They came by to get what would fit into Pablo the Ford Focus and Nate will head off tomorrow. It was our last Sunday night visit for many months...and I will miss the visits!

Goodbyes are NOT my favorite, but we are so glad they have a wonderful college to attend! It's a worthwhile sacrifice!
