Week of November 4-10, 2018

Highlights:

Spiritual
Sunday was very good. Testimonies born were very strengthening. We had an awesome Sunday School lesson about what Priesthood Power truly is, and we read in Isaiah 52. We had a very good Relief Society council on...again, ministering. Dad and I attended tithing settlement in the afternoon and I also attended choir practice.

I attended a Tuesday morning session at the temple. Dad attended a session on Thursday night.

Scouts went pretty well for me this week. We need Dad there with us to help with a couple of boys, but the Aquatics elective was completed. Dad's scouts went to someone's house for night games, so he left my scouts early. When he arrived, he was the only adult leader there and the boys were just playing so he didn't stay. There are to be two adult leaders at all activities so they will need to make sure two are there every time.

Family

The Wilkins Family
The Wilkins family had a good week. Sam started taking some swimming classes last Saturday at their local community center, and he loves them! His favorite part is playing Red Light, Green Light in the pool. Grace sang with her friends at a special program honoring Veterans for Veterans Day on Friday. She was so excited.

The Ethan Rice Family
Busy week for this family. Ethan drives a lot in his new job position. He drove to and from Tennessee at the end of the week in one day. He said it was like our Las Vegas Turnarounds of the past. Kaylee had a good week at school. Her school celebrated Veteran's Day with a special program and a female veteran visiting. She colored a picture of a veteran in green and brown camouflage, cut it out to make a headband, and said she made it a girl veteran. After school on Friday, she and Cameo were busy disguising a turkey... her's has a pretty pink net tutu on. Poor Wade was struggling with his nose this week and was diagnosed on Friday with RSV, so he is taking honey for his cough, ibuprofen for fever, and keeping the humidifier running. I saw him via FaceTime on Friday night. He had a runny nose, but he was showing me all the beautiful Thanksgiving decorations Cameo had, showed me the turkey and told me what the turkey said, put on his baseball cap and showed me his new glove, and then got on his riding ATV clad in blue galoshes, his hat, and rode like a crazy man! (I do know that sick children get sickest at night, but I was so glad he was not suffering all the time.)

The Doran Rice Family
Doran and Amber and the kids had a good early week, though sickness invaded their home. Dad had already accepted a job teaching another sixth grade at Kelsie's school, but Amber was stricken with the worst migraine ever, so Dad went down, took Kelsie to school, taught during the day,

got her a treat at Culvers, and then took her home, so that Amber and Kooper could rest.

Morgan
Morgan had a good week and shared some of his work with us.

Morgan and Aimee enjoyed some fishing on Saturday. Aimee appears to be the fisherman that night

Kayty
We are still praying Kayty gets hired permanently. There is plenty of work and she is excelling, scoring very high on reviews. Aerotek, her employment agency employer, contacted her to see if she had been reviewed by management etc. The problem with her Chubb boss is that she is constantly pointing out that Kayty is not one of them, though she is expected to be a part of the team. She can participate, but cannot eat at picnics or get any motivational prizes. Her supervisor constantly says things reminding all that she is not one of them. Not a good team building environment for anyone, and it really bothers some of her coworkers. We are just praying a lot. She has done this three times over, doing really great, being promised a job, waiting, no raises, no holiday pay (she is scrambling to figure out what to do when the place is closed Thanksgiving and Friday).

Dad found Kayty this time, early Sunday morning, and I ran in to help. Three major saves and two minor ones this week. She has resumed taking her long acting insulin like she has always been supposed to, but she still is adjusting her mealtime insulin, and this week took too much.

The Nathan Rice Family
Nathan and Jessica and the girls had a very busy week. School is keeping Nathan super booked with class, projects and homework. He is having trouble with the car ignition and is trying to find time or a cheap way to repair it. The company in Flagstaff offered him a job, and Honeywell interviewed him by phone and plans to fly him here for a face to face. He asked for an extension on the decision with the Flagstaff company. Housing is much more costly in Flagstaff, so they prefer to live in Phoenix, but everything will be decided with a lot of prayer.

Dad's Garden
We had a huge wind during the week that disrupted things but Dad was able to repair. He also was able to plant  cabbage starts. Carrots and everything else looks great.

Other highlights
I had made a schedule to put up my village so I could still keep up with my housework, go to the temple, and prepare for scouts. I accomplished Monday and Tuesday's goals on Monday. Other than needing to move a couple of pieces, and get more lights, everything went pretty well.

Jogs were good this week.
