Week of September 8 - 14, 2019

Highlights:

Spiritual
Church on Sunday was great. In Sacrament Meeting, we listened to a talk about raising resilient children. It was such good sound counsel for all of us, whether raising children or not. We then listened to a talk given by Seth Larson, a young man leaving this week to serve a two-year full-time mission in West Virginia. He is prepared and already has such a strong testimony of the gospel. Relief Society was wonderful as we learned from Elder Bednar's talk from the last General Conference.

We had choir practice for the first time in more than a month and it was good. Numbers were few, as some have moved away since we last met, but we have many new families in our ward and hope they will join us.

I attended a session at the temple on Tuesday morning and Dad performed ordinances and attended a session on Thursday night.

I continue to read the Book of Mormon daily and completed reading the September Ensign magazine. I also listen to a General Conference talk every morning.

I have indexed 17,076 records and reviewed 41,891 records so far this year.

Family

The Wilkins Family
The Wilkins family had a busy week and is doing well.

The Ethan Rice Family
Last Saturday, Ethan, Cameo, Kaylee, and Wade attended a Home Depot Kids Building session. They had such a good time.

We spoke with them via FaceTime on Thursday night. Kaylee had one crazy loose tooth. We saw this on Friday...
Finally came out...at school...getting her another cool tooth necklace.

The Doran Rice Family
Doran and Amber came over on Wednesday night to get laundry done. They headed out on Friday for a fun tent camping trip. Fishing wasn't that great...except for Kooper.
Apparently, it had been injured from a previous catch and was floating along, so he nabbed it with his net. He ended up spending time later at the doctor and being diagnosed with strep throat, but they had a fun time.

Morgan
Morgan had a busy week and is doing well.

Kayty
Kayty had a good week at work. She was very interested in the 9/11 presentations and spent a lot of time reading and watching. Sadly, our country is forgetting, so I was thankful she took an interest and was trying to learn more.

One major low that caught me by surprise on Tuesday morning. It was a quick save thankfully and she was only a few minutes late to work. One minor save on Saturday morning that two Hershey kisses and some water took care of.

The Nathan Rice Family
We went over to visit Nathan, Jessica and the girls on Sunday night. Nathan's Log to Lumber project is well underway and the wood is nicely cut and drying for a year in their garage. They are both doing well at church and at work. I got to play with the girls and Dad read them a couple of books before they were getting tired and we headed home. During the week, he was able to acquire a chain saw with a longer blade from an online neighborhood ad, so he is all set. Dad and I went there on Saturday night to play with the girls so Mom and Dad could have a brief date night.

We brought some of their favorites to play with and we had fun reading and coloring.

Dad's Garden
Monday was much cooler. I spent some time during the day cleaning up sun coverings and getting some of the old plastic pulled up. Dad and I dug in the new garden beds to prepare them for compost. Dad plans on planting carrots, spinach, chard, and some tomatoes. Dad got his seeds for Chinese cabbage, collards, and chard. His date trees are still surviving and he is harvesting dates a few at a time from our older date palm.

Other highlights
I began painting the playroom this week...the same taupe color used in both bathrooms. Furniture has been hauled out on the back porch and Dad helped replace some termite eaten molding. By the end of Saturday, all the walls and all the moldings had been painted. Now to get carpet installed.
