Week of October 6 - 12, 2019

Highlights:

Spiritual
What a wonderful General Conference we were blessed to sit and enjoy on Sunday. I cannot wait until Thursday to read each talk. I have truly feasted and will apply many lessons in my life these coming six months. I started reading as well as listening to each talk while I exercise this week.

I attended a session at the temple on Tuesday morning and Dad attended a session on Wednesday evening.

I finished reading the October Ensign magazine this week. Book of Mormon reading also continues.

I have indexed 18248 records and reviewed 49348 records so far this year.

Family

The Wilkins Family
This family is well and very, very busy!!! Adam is doing well in school and loves his lunchtime job. He wants to buy a Nintendo Switch when he saves enough money. Grace is doing well and is getting braces on her teeth very soon. Josh is still having challenges from his head injury, but it hasn't stopped him from doing well at school and loving cub scouts. Sam loves kindergarten and is doing very well.

The Ethan Rice Family
This family had some sickness this week. Kaylee had strep, and Wade had the effects of a virus that kept him from walking. All is going well and they are figuring how they will get to and from Arizona for Thanksgiving. Inside the house and outside the house, Fall and Halloween decor is making things look more beautiful!

The Doran Rice Family
This family had a busy and good week. Kelsie and Kooper were stuck in a small trailer for Fall Break, but Dad would run snacks, food, or fun stuff by as traveled to Honeywell to fix his computer, etc. Happy Seventh Anniversary to Doran and Amber on Friday.

Morgan
Morgan is doing okay.

Kayty
Kate had a good work week that included five hours of overtime. She was ill one evening with a bad headache and nausea but seemed to be better the next day after a good amount of rest. She is working on her Halloween costume for work and spent time off work reading and watching television.

The Nathan Rice Family
Nathan, Jessica, Anna, Ellie, and Emma are good. The girls still have residual coughs, but, as Ellie says, "My fever is done! Nathan cut some dead citrus wood near Arrowhead Hospital on Wednesday and we got a whole trailer full with him on Saturday, some for us and some for him.
He then came to our house and poured the beginning of another birm in the yard. We were so thankful he could figure out the cement mixer problem so it worked like a charm!

We got a chance to play with Anna and Ellie while Nathan, Jessica and Emma went out to dinner on Saturday night.

Dad's Garden
Plants are in. We are just, as usual, struggling with hungry creatures: birds, mice, rabbits, etc. He replanted what he thought was spinach, but noticed later he had planted beets.

Other highlights
I saw this on Instagram and thought I would share:

You are holding a cup of cocoa when someone comes along and bumps into you or shakes your arm, making you spill your drink everywhere.

“Why did you spill the cocoa?”

“Well, because someone bumped into me, of course!”

Wrong answer.

You spilled the cocoa because there was cocoa in your cup.

Had there been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea.

Whatever is inside the cup is what will spill out.

Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you (which WILL happen), whatever is inside you will come out. It’s easy to fake it, until you get rattled.

So, we have to ask ourselves, “What’s in my cup?”

When life gets tough, what spills over?

Joy, gratitude, peace, and humility?
Or anger, bitterness, harsh words and reactions?

You choose.

Today lets work towards filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation, kindness, gentleness, and love for others.

Dad's first week at his new position at Honeywell went very well! He is studying for hours every day so he can learn all the quality requirements necessary to be a Field Quality Engineer. He was able to meet his manager and some of his coworkers on Monday and really likes all. And he is working from home which he really enjoys!

Got two bids on the carpet for the playroom. Ethan recommended Empire, so we called, they came the next day, they were reasonable, and they will install on Monday. That room will be complete finally!!

I took Nano out to get medications on Thursday, and then spent lots of time on the phone on Friday with her caregiver. Scott and Sharynn helped immensely in solving problems!!
