Week of October 10-October 16, 2021

Highlights:

Spiritual
Sunday was great. We heard from two missionaries who had recently returned from their missions and they both gave wonderful talks. One served in the West Virginia Mission which included a large area of the country, and the other began serving in Peru and then had to return due to Covid and then was reassigned to New York City. Dad attended another ward for the Stake Sunday school. My primary class went pretty well. Dad attended Stake Leadership Meeting on Saturday afternoon and we both went to hear Elder (someone from the Seventy) on Saturday evening.

Dad attended a session at the temple on Thursday night.

My daily morning foundation of General Conference talk(s), prayer, scripture study and Come Follow Me study continues each day. I got all the General Conference talks read and am enjoying listening to them each day now.

I have indexed 17,826 records and reviewed 98,432 records so far this year.

Family

The Wilkins Family
Wilkins family continues to be busy as they pack and prepare for a move. All seem to be doing better.

The Ethan Rice Family
Ethan spent another week back in Pennsylvania. Cameo kept things going at home, even as the kids are feeling under the weather. Ethan flew home late Thursday, laundry done and suitcases switched, and Cameo left Friday morning to come to Phoenix for her 20th High School reunion. She had lunch with her parents (Jade came down with Covid, even with her vax months ago...pretty bad case right now.) Anyway, she then let me know they were done, she and I went to visit Nano. It was a good visit and Nano seemed to enjoy it.
While Cameo was here, Kaylee lost another tooth!

The Doran Rice Family
Doran and Amber celebrated their 9th wedding anniversary this week. Crab is now checked off the bucket list.

Morgan
Morgan and Cassie spent a couple of days fishing last week. They had lovely weather and a fun time.

Kayty
Kayty had a good work week with just some overtime.

The Nathan Rice Family
Nathan and Dad received the notice on Tuesday that they have to be fully vaccinated or they will be fired from Honeywell on December 8th. Nathan is searching for another position with another smaller company. He has put in applications as far away as Texas. The family had a good week otherwise, with soccer practice, school, and soccer game. They are working around their house to prepare for a new baby to come. The girls were here to play a few times this week.

Dad's Garden
The garden is looking good. Snow and Sugar peas are continuing to grow. Dad has seeds in pots and they are beginning to grow.

Other highlights
Had lots of wind, and a little rain as a surprise.

Got some more granite moved from that long lived pile on the front driveway.

Not so highlights
As I said, Dad is to be fired on December 8th due to deciding not to get a Covid shot. We have lots of data regarding side effects and long-term concerns, but the most pressing concern is that we are standing against mandates like this. In my life, I have NEVER experienced a situation where people are being fired from the military, the hospitals, and airlines, and now manufacturing over choosing to not get a medical procedure. It should be a private decision for the individual rather than being forced to get something injected that is experimental. The FDA has not approved this medication (if they had, the other two shots would not be allowed to be administered in the emergency mandate situation). We stand to lose over ten thousand dollars in savings this year, plus a month of pay. We also will need to determine our medical insurance situation as well as our life insurance. Dad is filing a religious exemption (as opposed to a religion exemption since our faith is not opposed to shots using aborted fetal cells) but we have abundant data. While I doubt that it will save his job, he is getting to testify of his belief and sharing the data involved. These last ten months have resulted in a country I no longer recognize and a steer directly toward communism. Doran's coworker who lived in Romania knows what is happening. She has seen it. So dad is standing for what he believes. For individual choice and freedom.
